Buc-ee’s Expected to Bring Wave of Visitors, Spending, and Growth to Goodyear and the West Valley

Goodyear, AZ — As Buc-ee’s prepares to open its first Arizona location in Goodyear on June 22 at 6:00 a.m., local leaders say the impact will extend far beyond a single grand opening.

Known nationally as a travel destination, Buc-ee’s is expected to draw visitors from across Arizona and neighboring states—bringing new spending, increased visibility, and long-term economic momentum to the West Valley.

A Destination That Drives New Dollars

Unlike traditional retail, Buc-ee’s attracts a high volume of out-of-town visitors, meaning much of the spending generated comes from outside the local market.

“This is more than a new business—it’s a destination that brings new dollars into our region,” said Raoul Sada, President & CEO of the Northwest Valley Chamber of Commerce. “Buc-ee’s captures spending from travelers and keeps that economic activity here in the West Valley.”

City officials have noted that a large portion of Buc-ee’s customer base typically comes from outside the host city, reinforcing its role as a regional attractor.

More Than a Stop — A Regional Draw

The Goodyear location will span approximately 74,000 square feet with about 120 fueling stations, operating 24 hours a day and offering fresh food, retail, and signature Buc-ee’s products.

But the appeal goes beyond its size.

“People plan trips around Buc-ee’s—it’s become part of the travel experience,” Sada added. “That kind of demand brings attention and opportunity to the entire region.”

The  ‘Buc-ee’s Effect’ — Growth Beyond the Site

Economic development experts often point to what’s known as the “Buc-ee’s effect”—a pattern where new development follows in the area surrounding a location.

Communities across the country have seen:

  • New restaurants and retail businesses
  • Increased interest from developers
  • Expansion of nearby hospitality options

“When Buc-ee’s arrives, it tends to attract additional businesses and investment,” said Sada. “That’s how you create long-term economic growth—not just a single project, but a ripple effect.”

Jobs, Revenue, and Regional Impact

In addition to drawing visitors, Buc-ee’s is expected to:

  • Create hundreds of jobs with competitive wages
  • Generate new sales tax revenue
  • Increase demand for local services and businesses

Importantly, much of the tax revenue is driven by visitors rather than local residents—helping support infrastructure, public safety, and community services.

A Win for the Entire West Valley

While the location is in Goodyear, leaders emphasize that the impact will extend throughout the region.

“Projects like this don’t stop at city limits,” Sada said. “The economic benefits will be felt across the entire West Valley—from increased tourism to new business opportunities.”
